Paul R. Pittman

Paul R. Pittman, 86, of Olive Branch, died at 5:15 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2023, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born on Dec. 29, 1936, in Raton, N.M., the son of Russell and Anna Wingart Pittman.

He was a United States veteran, serving as an aviation electronics technician second class and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on Sept. 14, 1961.

He was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a technician.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kent Honey; a grandson, Christopher Honey; brothers David, James and Phil; and sisters, Anna Ruth and Fern.

Survivors include his wife, Judy (Gentle) Pittman; daughter-in-law Sherry Honey; grandchildren Sara Elizabeth Honey and Jennifer Lynn Hale; five great-grandchildren; sisters Carolyn and Hannah Lou; sister-in-law Susan Gentle; brother-in-law Mike Gentle; other relatives and friends.

Graveside memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, April 7, at St. John’s Cemetery in rural Dongola. The Rev. Sam Ramdial officiated. Full military honors were accorded by the U.S. Navy burial team and area veterans. Inurnment followed.
