Paul Michael Spiller

Paul Michael Spiller, age76, of Carterville, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on Dec. 21, 1948, in Anna the son of Paul L. and Margaret Ann (Brust) Spiller. On Nov. 14, 1967, he married the love of his life, Nancy K. Spiller.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy; daughter, Robin (Jay) Hampton of Carterville and cherished grandchildren, Chelsie Coulter (fiancé Nick Scroggins) and Trevor Coulter (Elena Novelli) of Herrin. 

He is also survived by his sisters, Janna Kasper of Anna and Cathy (Lonnie) Hinton of Vienna; sister-in-law, Betty (Jerry Bloch) of Snohomish, Wash.; brother-in-law, John (Shirley) Spiller of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Richard and Lorena Spiller; and his beloved son, Paul Michael Jr.

Paul proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, abroad the aircraft carrier USS America. He was a lifelong member of VFW Post #3455 in Anna. 

Paul worked in the communications field for 33 years before retiring in 2004.

A private interment will be held at a later date at the Cobden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project at WoundedWarriorProject.org
