Pamela Rives Guyot

Pamela Rives Guyot, 81, of Sullivan, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur.

Celebration of Life services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023, at the Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor Mark Bjornbak officiating. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery in Sullivan.

Memorials are suggested to the Sullivan First Baptist Church or to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Online condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net.

Mrs. Guyot was born on Aug. 19, 1942, in Cairo, the daughter of Charles E. and Guelda M. Glabb Rives.  

She graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a bachelor of science degree in business education.  

She then graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with master of education degree in business education.

Mrs. Guyot started her working career as a high school business teacher at Herrick High School, Noble High School and Onarga High School.  

She was an instructor at Lake Land College in Mattoon and Job Retraining Services.  

She was a computer/industrial production liaison for Homeshield Industries and worked for several local attorneys during tax season.  

She retired from the Moultrie County circuit clerk’s office as deputy circuit clerk.  

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sullivan, where she served as trustee secretary, financial secretary, memorial fund treasurer and former Sunday School/youth group teacher.  

She was a long-time member of Moultrie County Home Extension and was an avid flower gardener.  

She married Ben Guyot on Nov. 18, 1967, in St. Louis.

Survivors include her husband, Ben; sons Trenton (Sue) Guyot of Webster Groves, Mo., and Brett (Leslie) Guyot of Sullivan; and grandchildren Audrey Guyot, Andrew Guyot and Charles Guyot.
