Otis Glen Burris
Otis Glen Burris, age 86 of Jonesboro, passed away, Friday, Dec. 26, 2025 surrounded by his family.
He was born Nov. 21, 1939 in Wolf Lake, the son of Francis Mezo. He married Linda Pecord on June 9, 1961 in Mill Creek.
Otis is survived by his loving wife, Linda Burris; son, Rowdy Burris, daughter, Michele Burris, all of Jonesboro; two grandchildren, Corlis (April) Burris of Tamms, Zach Burris (Lindsey Edwards) of Jonesboro; three great-grandchildren, Grant and Tate Burris and Blake Edwards; sister, Sharon Stafford of Elberta, Ala.; uncle, “Brother” Larry (Maggie) Burris of Saraland, Alabama; aunt, Vonnie Burris of Mobile, Ala.; nieces and nephews; other extended family and host of dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and sisters, Mary Catherine Santacruz and Phyllis Singley.
Otis honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. After he returned home, he operated the Standard Station on the Jonesboro Square until the 70’s. He later joined the Teamsters and drove a truck for E.T. Simonds for thirty-six years until his retirement.
Otis was very involved in the Teamsters and served as Union Steward until he retired.
Otis never met a stranger; he enjoyed good conversation and talking with good company.
Along with his son and grandsons he enjoyed tinkering with antique tractors and all the wheeling and dealing he did along the way. You might find him out in the shop, at an auction, or visiting a neighbor at his farm, just watching them work.
Funeral services were on Friday, Jan. 2 at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro with Brent Miller officiating. Interment followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Graveside military rites were conducted by the Carroll P. Foster Post #3455 of the V.F.W. in Anna and the Scott Air Force Base Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
