Nancy Lee Young, 76 of Effingham, passed away on Feb. 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Nancy was born Jan. 9, 1950 in Anna, the daughter of Harry and Helen (McMillion) Rosson. She married Brian Young on Nov. 11, 1972.

Nancy graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1968 and then went on to cosmetology school; working as a hairdresser for many years. She loved talking with others, catching up on life, laughing over stories, and making connections wherever she went. 

She was also a loving mother who centered her life around caring for her family.

Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. She treasured every opportunity to watch them play sports, attend their activities, and gather together to share a meal. Simply being with her family meant everything to her.

Nancy also cherished the time she spent with her siblings and with extended family and lifelong friends in her hometown of Anna. Those relationships were a constant source of love and laughter in her life. 

In her quieter moments, she enjoyed going on walks, unwinding with her favorite television shows, and caring for the many cats she loved throughout the years.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Brian of Effingham; son, Kyle of Effingham; daughter, Lindsey (Christopher) Wendling of Altamont; grandchildren, Cooper, Violet, and Roman Wendling; brother, Kenneth (Ann) Rosson of Jonesboro; sister, Shelby and husband John Pickel of Jonesboro; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Patricia Smith; and brothers, Larry, Dwain, and Phillip Rosson.

Nancy will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the love she gave so freely.

Funeral services were held at on Thursday, Feb. 26, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Interment followed at the Anna Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Shiners Children’s Hospital, or the charity of the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or donations may be made from the charity link on the funeral home website.
