Melvin Horton

Melvin Horton, 92, of Karnak, died at 7:23 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2023, at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.

He was born on Dec. 5, 1930, in Uniontown, Ky. 

He was a graduate of the Uniontown High School. 

Melvin and Wanda June Kidd Horton were united in marriage in 1958. 

He enjoyed fishing, camping and boating. He  had retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, having worked at Lock and Dam No. 49 in Uniontown, Ky., and Lock and Dam No. 53 in Olmsted. 

He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the Anderson Congregational Church in Boaz. He was a past member of the Belknap Masonic Lodge and the Uniontown, Ky., Masonic Lodge. 

Mr. Horton is survived by his wife, Wanda June Kidd Horton of Karnak; son Doug Horton of Karnak; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Melvin Anthony Horton; his parents, Green and Alberta Rager Horton; a brother, Harrison Horton; and an infant brother, Herbert Horton.

Graveside funeral services honoring the life of Mr. Melvin Horton will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 14, at the Anderson Cemetery in Boaz. The Rev. Gerell Cain to officiate.
