McKenzie Brooke Windings

McKenzie Brooke Windings, 17, of Olmsted, passed away at 12:53 a.m. Monday, June 10, 2024, at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Mo., from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

McKenzie was born on March 5, 2007, in Carbondale, Illinois, the daughter of David Paul Windings Jr. and Brooke (Newkirk) Windings.

She attended The Spark Ministries in McClure and Trinity Assembly of God in Olive Branch. 

McKenzie completed her sophomore year at Anna-Jonesboro Community High School. She was a former student at Meridian High School in Mounds, where she was member of the Beta Club and FFA. McKenzie loved to sing and dance and loved nature. 

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, David Windings Sr.

Survivors include her parents, David and Brooke Windings; brothers Tyler and Lucas Windings; sister Savannah Windings; maternal grandmother Lisa Riddle; paternal grandmother Ruth Windings; a host of uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends; and her beloved dog, Nova Lee.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at The Spark Ministries in McClure, Illinois. Pastor Aaron Boyd and Stephen Clardy officiated. Interment followed in the Masonic Cemetery in Olmsted, Illinois.

Expressions of sympathy may be given to the funeral home to help offset the funeral expenses.
