Maudie Miller

Maudie Miller, 83, of Anna, died Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Union County Nursing Home. 

Maudie and her twin sister, Marie, were born on Feb. 20, 1940, in Anna, the daughters of Fred and Elma Hankla Burnley. 

She married Wayne Miller at Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Anna on Nov. 29, 1958. They had three children, Rodney (LaDonna) Miller, Teresa (Jeff) Rogers and LaDonna (Pat) Stute.

She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her twin sister, Marie (Jerrie) Clayton and close friends, Richard and Norma Edwards. 

She volunteered many hours with 4-H when her children were young and she was the junior show cooking supervisor for the Union County Fair in Anna for many years. 

She also dedicated many hours at Camp Ground Church with her grandchildren. She and the entire family spent many summer weekends at the family lake cabin at Lake of Egypt.

She spent many years working at the Florsheim Shoe Factory in Anna. Then, she and her husband owned and operated a construction company until their retirement.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband of 64 years; three children; grandchildren Brittany (Jeff) Roach, Ashley (Michael) Roach, Lara (Collin) Crane, Travis Rogers, Sara (Cody) Poole, Erin Stute and Dana (Matt) Frownfelter; great-grandchildren Landon and Tanner Roach, Gage and Tymber Roach, Reed and Kayton Crane, Garrett Poole and Carly Frownfelter; nieces, nephews and other relatives. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; twin sister Marie; and close friends, Richard and Norma Edwards.

Memorial services for Maudie Miller will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, at Camp Ground Cumberland Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Steve Lirely officiating. Inurnment will follow at Camp Ground Cemetery. 

Family and friends can gather from 6 p.m. to 8  p.m. Sunday, April 23, and from 10 a.m. until the service hour at 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, at the church. 

Memorials can be made to Camp Ground Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the church. 

Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
