Mary Sharon McGinness
Mary Sharon McGinness, 80, of Paducah, and formerly of Cairo, gained her wings on Jan. 5, 2021, in Paducah.
She was born on April 23, 1940, the daughter of Warren and Margaret Mitchell of Mounds.
She was a sibling to Buddy Mitchell of Tamms, Maurlene Steinbuck of Big Sandy, Tenn., and Janet Sue Paulas of Kevil, Ky.
She lived a simple life until meeting the love of her life, Frank McGinness. Lovestruck, the two married on Aug. 30, 1957.
Little did she know that Frank would take her on so many wonderful adventures around this great country and the world. The two traveled many places, from London to Japan to Hawaii, but always returned home to Cairo.
She then became a mother to Mark and Kim. Throughout her years of work, she did many different jobs, from being a jeweler to a caterer; though her favorite job was being a florist with her daughter, Kim, at the McGinness family business.
She also had a fondness for politics; she ran for Alexander County Circuit Clerk in 2000, winning twice and serving her community with eight years of hard work.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McGinness.
She is survived by her two children, Mark McGinness and Kim Bohde (husband Tracy). Her grandchildren are as listed: Ashley Haynes (husband Jimmy), Dustin Bohde (wife Kelsey), Christina Long (husband Brad), Victoria Scott (husband Sam), Reese Bohde. She had seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
She will always be remembered for her stunning and witty personality, with her beautiful smile.
