Mary Ellen Griffith Hafford

Mary Ellen Griffith Hafford, 82, of Barlow, Ky., died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at Countryside Nursing and Rehab in Bardwell, Ky.

She was born on July 11, 1941, in Mound City, the daughter of Roger William and Leelah Hubbard Griffith.  

She worked as an LPN in the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. She was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed ceramics.

Survivors include her daughters, Dianne Ragsdale (Rockne),and Tammy Langan (Ed); son Alan Hayden (Alice); grandchildren Somer Bryd (Kevin), Ross Ragsdale (Laura), Erica Carmack (Josh), Sean Wilson (Jessica), Erin Langan and Ethan Langan; great-grandchildren Jacklynn Bryd, Savannah Bryd, Macy Ragsdale, Tobias “Toby” Ragsdale, Grant Ragsdale, Katie Carmack, Jessie Carmack, Hayden Carmack and Margaret Dawn Wilson; and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Griffith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Barbara Hayden; and a sister, Glenna Marie Niestrath.

Funeral services were at noon Friday, Feb. 16, at Crain Funeral Home in Cairo, with Rockne Ragsdale officiating. Burial followed at Mound City National Cemetery. 

Memorials can be made to April’s Grooming in Barlow, Ky., and will be accepted at the funeral home.
