Marvin Lamer

Marvin Lamer, age 89 of Carbondale, died, Monday, October 27, 2025. He was born September 14, 1936 in Anna, the son of John and Hildagarde (Sweitzer) Lamer. He married Loretta Clutts and together they have shared 69 wonderful years.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Loretta Lamer of Carbondale; son, Larry Lamer of Carbondale; grandson, Josh Lamer; brother, David (Karen) Lamer of Anna; and sister, Donna Leming of Carbondale. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Lamer; and sister, Jane Norton.

Early in his career, Marvin worked for the ICC Railroad. He later worked for University Baptist Church until his retirement.

Graveside funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2025 at the Cobden Cemetery with Rev. Doug Cherry officiating. Interment will follow. Visitation will be graveside from 12:00 noon until the service at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2025. Memorial contributions are preferred to the Lone Oak Baptist Church in Energy. Envelopes will be available at the cemetery and the Rendleman& Hileman Funeral Home.
