Marshall ‘Glenn’ Jenkins
Marshall “Glenn” Jenkins,79, of Grand Chain, (the Hillerman Community in Massac County) passed away peacefully at home at 10:20 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.
Mr. Jenkins was a long-time member and trustee of the Hillerman Missionary Baptist Church. He was a Christian and brought his children up in the Church to love God and accept His salvation.
He worked as a railroad railcar repairman and working crew for the Illinois Terminal Railroad in Alton. This railroad was sold and with all his knowledge of the work and years of experience, he was then hired at American Electric Power in Metropolis. He retired in 2008.
He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing on his farm near Hillerman. He taught his children and grand children to appreciate the great outdoors.
Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar “Buddy” Jenkins and Mattie Sue Marshall Jenkins Mosley, one brother and his step-father.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Brenda Wetherington Jenkins; a son, Jeff and Karen; two daughters, Danna (Robert) Morley and Betty Stubblefield; and five grandchildren.
A celebration of life service honoring the life of Marshall “Glenn” Jenkins will be Saturday, Jan. 18, at 11 a.m., at Hillerman Baptist Church. Pastor Ben Hottel will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the church.
