Margie Darlene Carlson

Margie Darlene Carlson, 76, of Olmsted, Illinois, was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, at Continue Care at Baptist Health in Paducah, Ky.

Margie brightened the lives of those around her with her warm spirit and enduring kindness.

Margie found solace in the simple pleasures of life. As a longtime fan, she never missed an episode of “The Young and The Restless,” and her love for word puzzles reflected the pleasure she took in quiet moments. An avid reader, she loved the stories found in the Amish book series. Above all, Margie was happiest when surrounded by her family, cherishing every moment spent with them.

A member of Caledonia Baptist Church, Margie found immense joy in gospel music, which was as much a part of her faith. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and her legacy of unwavering faith and boundless love for the Lord continues to inspire and comfort us.

Her warmth, laughter and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but we now celebrate the blessed assurance that she is singing with the angels, forever at peace in the presence of her Savior.

Margie is survived by her two children, Derek Carlson, of Olmsted, Illinois, and Lisa (Carl) Derry, of Brookport, Illinois; one sister, Tammie (Phil) Nuernberger, of Goreville, Illinois; two brothers, Archie (Sandy) Hill, of Kevil, Kentucky, and Albert (Debbie) Hill, of Olmsted, Illinois; two grandchildren, Gavyn McKinney and Kaylee McKinney; several cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and one great-great-nephew.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Edith Elizabeth Hill, and her father, Arthur Hill.

Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Margie Darlene Carlson were at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2025, at Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak. The Rev. Phil Nuernberger officiated.

Interment followed at the New Hope Cemetery near New Columbia, Illinois.
