Malinda Hendrix
Malinda Hendrix, 64, of Nashville, Tenn., and formerly of Terre Haute, Ind., died on April 10, 2022, at her residence.
She was born on Nov. 7, 1957, in Decatur, the daughter of Jack and Laura Belle Johnson Winning.
She married Mike Hendrix on June 6, 1982. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2009.
She retired in 2018, after working for over 30 years as a daycare teacher and public schools pre-kindergarten teacher.
She loved taking care of her cats, spending quality time with her son and researching and cooking new recipes.
She was incredibly kind, hardworking and a loving person. She raised her son as a single parent after her husband’s passing, while teaching full time. People will remember her as being uniquely warm, nurturing and compassionate.
Survivors include her son, Michael Curtis Hendrix of Antioch, Tenn.; sisters Deah Haley of Stuart, Fla., and Jackie Anderson of Terre Haute, Ind.; brothers Jack and Jim Winning, both of Terre Haute, Ind.; and several other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband, Mike Hendrix.
A private graveside inurnment of Malinda and Mike Hendrix took place in St. John’s Cemetery near Dongola on June 20, with the Rev. Chere Riedel officiating.
Crain Funeral Home in Dongola was in charge of arrangements.
