Linda Lou ‘Tean’ McIntosh
Linda Lou “Tean” McIntosh, 86, of Marion, and formerly of Dongola, passed peacefully into heaven surrounded by her family on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024.
She was born on Jan. 24, 1938, in Dongola, the daughter of Archie and Amy Lingle Eddleman in Dongola.
Mom attended a one-room schoolhouse at Meisenheimer School before going on to Dongola High School, where she graduated in 1956.
She attended Murphysboro Beauty School, where she received her cosmetology license. Linda worked at a beauty shop in Cairo and then worked at Modern Beauty Shop on the square in Marion. She also worked at Universal Match.
She met the love of her life, Willie Lariel Dean McIntosh, while he was working at Cope Shell Gas Station in Dongola as she was walking by on her way to Dongola High School. They were engaged in 1957.
When Dean returned from Europe after being in the U.S. Army, the couple was married on May 1, 1959, at the Second Baptist Church parsonage in Marion.
The couple moved to Marion and shared 64 1/2 years together until Dean’s death on Jan. 27, 2024. The couple were affectionately called “Tean” and “Dean” by their family members.
Linda gave up her work outside of the home to become a full-time mother and homemaker. She was a very loving and dedicated mother and grandmother and gave her all to her whole family.
She received Jesus as her Lord and Savior in her youth and was baptized in Goodman Pond. She was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church in Perks. After moving to Marion, she and Dean attended Second Baptist Church in Marion for approximately 60 years until poor health prevented it and then they watched many church services on television.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Harrel) Lerch; son Barry (Teresa) McIntosh; grandchildren Matthew Dean Lerch and Kaelyn Renee McIntosh; brother-in-law Robert Porter; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Rita (Gary) Dale; sister-in-law Emilia Eddleman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers Artie (Lova) Eddleman, Tom (Janet) Eddleman, Donald “Gene” Eddleman and Bob (Carol Jean) Eddleman; and a sister, Lula Belle Porter.
Visitation will be Thursday, today, from 11 a.m. until noon at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola. A Celebration of Life will follow at noon, with Pastor Ashby Tillery and Pastor Danny Ward officiating.
Interment will follow the service at Meisenheimer Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the food pantry at the Second Baptist Church of Marion.
