Leslie W. Grubbe

Leslie W. Grubbe, age 84, of Jonesboro, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026 at his home.

He was born on Oct. 1, 1941 to Leslie W., Sr. and Dorothy (Standburg) Grubbe in Chicago, Ill.

Leslie worked at Southern Illinois University for 27 years until his retirement. 

He enjoyed showing Indian artifacts and horseback riding across the country and loved model trains. 

Leslie was a member of the Union and Johnson County Saddle Club, Little Egypt Orchid Society.

Survivors include his wife, Michael Grubbe; children, Bill Grubbe and Beth Frick; three grandchildren, Cody Grubbe, Dawson Frick, and Allison Frick; brother-in-law, Warren Strouts; along with many other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Laura Buckley (Dorian).

Per Leslie’s wishes, there will be no formal service.

The cremation of Leslie W. Grubbe will be personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home.
