Lenora O. Lovell
Lenora O. Lovell, 85, of Metropolis, died Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Southgate Nursing Home.
She was born on Jan. 28, 1939, in Wynne, Ark., the daughter of Connie and Zella Robertson Meggs.
She married the love of her life, Donald R. Lovell, on Feb. 11, 1956, and they spent many wonderful years with one another and raising a family. He preceded her in death on Oct. 14, 2019.
She worked hard her whole life, helping to raise her siblings, she being the oldest. She was a dedicated wife and mother.
She stepped up and went to the school for the blind in Chicago and learned to run her own business (D and L Vending), which she ran at the Metropolis rest area when Donald’s job closed and he became ill. She and Donald worked together for many years. She was the kindest person.
Survivors include her sons, Donald Lovell and Mark (Theresa Ann) Lovell; daughter Amy (Larry) McCandless; grandchildren Matthew Lovell, Ryan Lovell, Tarah Lovell and Dillon Lovell; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Anthony (Sue) Meggs and Ted Meggs; and a sister, Brenda (Stanley) Turner.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a great-grandchild.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. Burial followed at Rose Hill Cemetery in Thebes.
