Larry Gene Martin
Larry Gene Martin, 77, of Evansville, Ind., and formerly of Anna, died Friday, July 5, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Martin was born on March 8, 1947, in Coffeyville, Kan., the son of Maynard Dean and Dorothy Luella Delight Ellyson Martin.
He was married to Karen Faye Frick Martin. She preceded him in death on Jan. 23, 2024.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 29 years, with two tours in Vietnam and Desert Storm.
Mr. Martin also worked for 35 years as a pipefitter for the local union number 136.
He also was a member of several organizations, including Anna Lodge No. 520 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of the State of Illinois, the Scottish Rite in Evansville and the Hadi Shrine in Evansville. He was also a faithful member of Vann Avenue Baptist Church and after retirement he enjoyed summer mission trips.
Survivors include his son, Michael Martin; daughter Michelle Willis; brother Gale Martin; sisters Sandra Karraker, Karen Zelten and Teresa Jacobs; grandchildren Tiffany Martin, Kyle Martin, Gracen Willis, Keller Willis, Ellison Willis and Elin Willis; and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Dallas, and brother, Terry Martin.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro. Larry Lewis officiated.
Interment with military honors followed the funeral service at Anna City Cemetery.
