Larry Basler
Larry Basler, 82, of Anna, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2024.He was born on Dec. 23, 1941, in Cobden, the son of Henry Charles and Vivian Irene Hill Basler.
He leaves behind his wife of 39 years, Carleen; children Tina Riggs of Leesburg Fla., Letha (Darren) Schluterbush of Redmond Ore., Karl (Shannon) Basler of Anna and Melinda (JR) Gulley of Anna; and stepdaughter Terri (Kyle) Harfst of Mahomet; along with sister Jane (Don) Cerney of Jonesboro; 16 grandchildren, Tabitha Sparkman, Sarah Williams, Jonathon Marks, Jessica Adams, Sam Harmon, Vicki Coles, Larry Basler, Daniela Basler, Jakob Basler, Amanda Basler, Jordan Basler, Skie Basler, Allison McCann, Ashley Hartsock, Taylor Krout and Nicholas Harfst; 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Delaine Alan Basler; granddaughter Alexis Jean Hartsock; and siblings Hank Basler, Joan Ayers and Judy Gunn.
Mr. Basler retired from Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center in Anna. He was a member of the Anna Moose Lodge and the Weslaco Texas Elks.
He enjoyed his retirement years camping on the Ohio River at Riverview Campground and being a winter Texan in Weslaco, Texas, at the Rio Grande Valley Estates.
He was a loving family man and great friend. He enjoyed playing music, gardening and woodworking.
Graveside services for Mr. Basler were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Macedonia Cemetery near Harrisburg. Tim Williams officiated. Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
