Kevin D. Curtis

Kevin D. Curtis, formerly of Anna-Jonesboro,   was born on Sept. 6, 1954, in Murphysboro, and passed peacefully in Helena, Mont., on June 6, 2023.

Kevin is survived by his loving daughter, Autumn Curtis, and grandson, Elias.  Kevin adored his grandson, and he had a smile that was ear to ear when Elias was with him.

Kevin was an amazing and loving father to Autumn, whom he had a special bond with. He was a single parent and there was nothing or no one that came before her.

He also has a daughter, Amber Curtis, who lives in Washington State, whom he also loved dearly.

His girlfriend, Raini Powers, was there by his side through thick and thin to help make Kevin’s life and final days easier. She and Kevin were amazing together.

Kevin’s father preceded him in death, Vernon Curtis, when Kevin was only 3 years old.

He was also preceded in death by his loving mother, Shirley Penrod, whom Kevin loved bigger than life; and beautiful sister Angela Pender.

He is survived by his brother Scott (Linda) Pender, Brian (Debbie) Pender, Leigh Ann Pender (Bob), and Tammy (Rommie Hall).

He had many cousins who cherished and loved him, Connie Falkenbury, his cousin, was like a sister to him his entire life. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Kevin enjoyed hiking, baseball, music, reading and learning about new things. Kevin loved the beauty that was all around him and enjoyed being in nature. He loved the forest and the mountains and being outdoors.

Kevin attended school in Indianapolis, Ind., where he lived as a child, then finished school in Illinois, where he attended Murphysboro Junior High School and Senior High School.  He was an enthusiastic reader and was always learning about new things.

There will be a celebration of life this summer to honor, remember, share stories and reminisce for his family and friends; the date will be published on Facebook.

You were truly one of a kind Kevin and there will never be another one like you. You were loved and gave so much love.   We will all miss your wit, laughter, enthusiasm for life, your beautiful shining blue eyes and we are all better people for having you in our lives. Rest now. We love you.
