Kay Ellen Calvin

Kay Ellen Calvin, 83, of Mound City, Ill. passed away at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at Mercy Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Kay was born Aug. 9, 1942, in Cairo, Ill. daughter to the late Condo Wynns and Reba (Dunlap) Travis. 

She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Mound City where she served as the church pianist for many years.

Kay was a loving mother and grandmother. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Reba Haas; father, Condo Travis; husband, Donnie Calvin, Sr. on March 10, 1992; son-in-law, Roger Shockley, Sr.; and stepfather, Stewart Haas.

Kay is survived by her son, Donnie Calvin (Teresa); daughters, Angela Shockley (Kirk) and Sherri Calvin (Larry); stepbrother, Dennis Ritton; grandchildren, Roger Shockley, Jr., Michelle (Justin) Crain, Darin Calvin, Dalinda Shockley, Tonya Dayton, Kayla Bone, Kristie Shockley, Sarah Shockley, Donnie “Trae” Calvin III and Madison (Caden) Calvin; 18 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were be held on Monday, Dec. 1 at the funeral home. Rev. Buddy Walls will officiate. Interment followed in Beechwood Cemetery in Mounds, Ill.
