Karen Kay McClarney-Loftin

Karen Kay McClarney-Loftin, 79, of Cape Girardeau, went to be with the Lord at 1:50 p.m. Sunday Dec. 31, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by those who loved her. 

She was born on July 19, 1944, in Cairo, the daughter of James William and Ella Louise Wilmoth-McClarney.  

She married  Dean Loftin on May 1, 1968, in Morley, Mo. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2006. 

She attended Cape Cowboy Church in Oak Ridge. She had a wide variety of talents, and was a successful business owner of three locations of The Briar Patch. She and Dean managed Cape Grain Company in Cape Girardeau from 1966 to 1983. She was also a skilled florist and seamstress. There wasn’t much that she was not able to accomplish when she set her mind to it.  

She is survived by her significant other of many years, Russell Clubb; daughter Beckiann Satterlee (Roger Sisk) of East Cape Girardeau; a brother, Bill McClarney (Amy) of Olive Branch; nieces, Toni Lewis (David), Lisa Sparkman, Shelly Crudup (Boyd), Lauren Butler (Tim) and Hannah McClarney; great-nephew Brandon Lewis (Robyn) and great-niece Ashley Holbert-Stoneburner (Clayton); multiple grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other loved ones. 

She was preceded in death by an infant son, David; her husband, Dean; her parents, James and Ella; a sister, Carole Underwood; a brother-in-law, James Underwood; a niece, Debby Gross; and a great-niece and nephew. 

Special thanks to Saint Francis Hospice, Russell Clubb, Beckiann Satterlee, David Satterlee and Joe Walker for providing Karen with excellent care during her transition to heaven.

Funeral services were at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms. Private disposition will take place at a later date.
