Juanita Miller Pickel

Juanita Miller Pickel, 100, of Anna, died Sunday, July 14, 2024.

She was born on Aug. 27, 1923, in Reynoldsville, the daughter of Charles Cleveland and Ida Josephine Rhymer Miller.  

She was preceded in death by siblings Alma, Elmer, Norma, Dorothy, Mary, Charles and Betty. 

Her dear sister, Neoma Bittle, of Anna, survives.

She was married to John Carl Pickel just three days shy of 50 years; he passed away Nov. 4, 1991.  

They raised four children on a family farm in Jonesboro: John F. Pickel and his spouse, Shelby, of Jonesboro, Larry Pickel and his spouse, Sharen, of Jonesboro, Jane Womick and her spouse, John, of Makanda, and David Pickel and his spouse, Beverly, of Fort Mill, S.C.

She worked for Florsheim Shoe Factory for over 20 years and shared many fond memories of her time there. Her greatest joy came from her family. 

She is survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-children. 

A celebration of her life was held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.  Burial was at the Jonesboro Cemetery.
