Agnes Joan Mueller “JoAnne,” 88, was born on Nov. 25, 1930, and peacefully died on Dec. 5, 2018, after illness following a stroke in February 2017.
She was the daughter of Gladys Pearl Kimmel and Herbert Rendleman.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Kenneth H.; her sisters, Ruth Modglin and Peggy Norton; and her beloved son, Kenneth W. Mueller.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Mueller-Fleenor; grandchildren Matthew, Jane, Scott and Ellen; a daughter-in-law Rebecca Mueller; two great-grandchildren Charlotte and Todd; nieces, a nephew, family and friends.
She spent her birth through graduation from high school in Wolf Lake, and there, after World War II, met the love of her life, Kenneth. They were married in Anna at Trinity Lutheran Church and were married 70 years until his death in December 2017. Both were faithful members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Anna throughout their lives.
She lived and worked in Anna all of her married life and was a long-term employee of Anna State Hospital (now Choate Mental Health and Developmental Center) in Anna.
She and Kenneth traveled in their retirement years and she was especially fond of travels to honor his World War II service with the 100th Bomb Group and for the Veterans Honor trips to Washington, D.C.
She was an avid baseball Cardinals and basketball Bulls fan and tried to never miss watching or listening to a game. When Ken was young, she tried to never miss his Little League games or high school basketball games.
For many years, after she convinced Kenneth in 1978 he would learn to dance, she loved to go dancing with her best partner, Kenneth, and they were a beautiful couple.
