James ‘Jim’ William Dirden

James “Jim” William Dirden, 74, of Dongola, died Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the Marion Veterans Affairs Medical Center. 

He was born on Dec. 15, 1948, in Anna, the son of Otis and Marjorie Camden Dirden.

Mr. Dirden is survived by his niece, Carla (Mike) Cremeens of Anna; nephew Eddie (Mary) Mixen of Florence, Ariz.; great-nieces and nephews; best friend Wendy Chauvin of Dongola and her family; other relatives and many friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lydia Joan Mixen and Cynthia Dirden; and one brother, Steven Dirden.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1969.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with Bill Littrell officiating. Interment was in the Anna Cemetery. 

Graveside military rites were conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois Army National Guard funeral honor team of Marion.
