James ‘Dub’ Ledbetter

James “Dub” Ledbetter, 79, of Ullin, died Friday, March 31, 2023, at Integrity Healthcare in Anna.

He was born on Dec. 23, 1944, in Ullin, the son of Milo “Cotton” and Ruth Odle Ledbetter.  

He married Cheryl Dalton on Feb. 1, 1969. She survives.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963-1967.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction. He was a member of Local 318 and in his earlier years enjoyed hunting, especially deer.

Survivors include his wife Cheri Ledbetter; son Jason Wesley (Heather) Ledbetter; daughter Jill Ann Brown; grandchildren Brooklyn Ledbetter, Lexie Ledbetter, Dalton Ledbetter, Aiden Ledbetter, Kyler Brown and Kolton Brown; sister, LaVerne Schlamer; brother Jesse Ledbetter; sister Phyllis (Francisco) Sanchez; and feline companion Little Girl.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Ledbetter; a brother, Kenneth Ledbetter; a sister-in-law, Martha Ledbetter; and a brother-in-law, Carl Schlamer.

Funeral services were at noon Monday, April 3, at Crain Funeral Home in Ullin, with Brent Miller officiating. Burial followed at Ullin Cemetery with military honors.

Crain Funeral Home in Ullin was in charge of arrangements.
