Henry M. ‘Pete’ Tanner

Pete Tanner, son of the late Floyd “Bud” Tanner and Evelyn Vera Tellor Tanner, was born on Oct. 1, 1956, in Anna, and departed his life Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo., at the age of 67 years.

He was the owner and operator of Pete Tanner Solid Waste Company for 25 years and a resident of Delta, Mo.  

He supported the Southeast Missouri community in many capacities for several years. He enjoyed supporting the Delta School District and financially contributed to sporting events. 

He also made sure if the elderly could not afford the waste pickup that it would be taken care of.  He was also affiliated with the Fairview General Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Sara (Matt Allen) Gerardi of Buncombe; son Pete Tanner of Marble Hill, Mo.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; his significant love of 12 years, Lisa Bowers of Delta; two fur companions, Paizlie and Josie; also, by many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Herman and Mike Tanner.

Funeral services were at noon Thursday, Oct. 3, at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with Pastor Ronnie McAtee officiating. Interment followed at the Fairview Cemetery near Mr. Tanner’s farm.
