Guy Parks Jr.

Guy Parks Jr., 82, of Cairo, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.

He was born on July 20, 1939, the son of Guy Sr. and Goldie Hurley Parks in Olive Branch. 

He married Lola McCoy on May 12, 1957.

Mr. Parks served in the U.S. Army. He worked for several years on the riverboat, and then retired as an ironworker for Local 10 in Kansas City, Mo.

Besides his wife, Lola, he is survived by his two sons, David Parks and Darryl (Angie) Parks; three grandchildren, Ashley (Wesley) Hillebrand, Jessica Parks and Nichole (Eric) Barnard; five great-grandchildren, Bell Hillebrand, Landon Hillebrand, Jamilynn Barnard, Ava  Barnard and Sophia Barnard; several nieces and nephews, Rosa Marie (Bill) Tatum, Chalen (Tammy) Tatum, Joann Parks Jenkins and Larry Joe (Susan) Parks; and many other relatives and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Parks Sr. and Goldie (Hurley) Parks; five sisters, Madie Thomas, Mary Ellen Pierceall, Blanche Baine, Rosie Lacey and Audrey Martin; and three brothers, Joe Parks, Billy Joe Parks and Jerry Parks. 

There will be no public services held and cremation will be accorded.
