Glen Eugene ‘Pete’ McRaven

Glen Eugene McRaven, 78, of Jonesboro, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2023. 

He was born in Chicago on Oct. 18, 1944, the son of Mac and Mildred Rhymer McRaven. 

Known by many as “Pete,” Mr. McRaven worked for over 30 years as a driver in the film industry, where he made many lifelong friends. He was a capable mechanic who enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. He also enjoyed shooting pool, and he had a heart for stranded animals.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne McRaven; his parents, Mac and Mildred McRaven; and his son, Glen Eugene McRaven. 

He is survived by his significant other Arlis Sasek; brother Doyle McRaven; sons Robert Meirndorf and Peter McRaven; grandchildren Jonathan Meirndorf (Jacqueline Meirndorf), Josh Meirndorf and Jennifer Burgess (Russell Burgess); great-grandchildren Joshua Evers, Lillian Evers, Merric Meirndorf, Katherine Meirndorf and Kimber Meirndorf; nephew Joey McRaven (Martha McRaven); nieces Sherri Hileman (Russell Hileman) and Cindy Cain; as well as many other family members throughout Southern Illinois and elsewhere. 

 His memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 10, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home on the Jonesboro Square. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The service will be at 7 p.m. 

Memorials can be made to Residential Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
