George Franklin Temke ‘Pappy’

George Franklin Temke “Pappy,” 94, of Olmsted, died at 8:25 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2025, at his residence.

He was born on Sept. 23, 1930, in Ullin, the son of William Fredrick and Elsa Mayer Temke.

He was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Olmsted. Mr Temke was a heavy equipment operator with Local Union 181. He mowed Concord Cemetery, which he also served as a trustee.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Merida L. Richards Temke, on Nov. 14, 2006; an infant son in 1964; brothers Orville and Lester Temke; and sister Roselee Holshouser.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, George J. and Angela Temke.; grandchildren Derrick (Abby) Temke, Franklin (Amanda) Temke, Jamie (Carl Jr.) Kurtz, Alivia Temke and Caitlin Temke; great-grandchildren Justin Temke, Chase Temke, Laney Minton, Rowan Temke, Anna Temke, Elizabeth Temke, Cameron Kurtz, Emma Kurtz and one on the way, Courtlin, who is expected to arrive in July; a brother, Leonard (Lucille) Temke; a sister, Patricia Hudgins; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, with Pastor Mike Sharp officiating.

Interment followed in Concord Cemetery in Olmsted.
