Geneva Merryman

Geneva Merryman, 90, of Cape Girardeau, and formerly of Olive Branch, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

She was born on June 10, 1934, in Dorena, Mo., the daughter of Hubert and Dot Latomandeer Merryman.

She was a proud discharged veteran of the United States Navy. She received her bachelor’s degree in St. Louis, Mo., and worked as a telemarketer in the insurance field. 

She grew up in Dorena, Mo. She was of Catholic faith and attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cairo at one time. She loved cooking and old television shows like “Gunsmoke.” 

Survivors include two sisters, Margie Williams and Annie Rice; nieces Carol (Joseph) Ramage, Shelly (Robert) Britt and Penny Rice; nephews Mike (Penny) Merryman, Keith Merryman, Steve Williams, Jeff Williams, Tony Rice, Ty (Sue) Garrett and Shannon (Marvaline) Garrett; and several other relatives, including great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her four sisters, LaVelle VanHouten, Betty Pearson, Vernell Owens and Dorothy Garrett; and one brother, Willard Merryman.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, with the Rev. Buddy Walls officiating.

Interment followed the funeral services at East Prairie Memorial Park in East Prairie, Mo.
