Frances Elaine Tucker Cook
Frances Elaine Tucker Cook of Anna left this world at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, surrounded by her family.
She was born on April 27, 1946, in Anna, the daughter of Bernice Baker and Francis (Ed) Tucker.
She married David J. Cook Sr. on Dec. 27, 1964, in Cobden. They shared 57 years together.
From this union came three children, David J. Cook Jr. and wife Janet, Scottie Dale Cook, Amanda and husband Chris Fowler, all of Anna; grandchildren Joe and Jessie Cook, Misty and Brett Short, Robert and Shannon Cook, Nicole and RJ Tully, Cody Cook, Allison Fowler and Liam Fowler; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She is also survived by two brothers, Roger Tucker of Olive Branch and Billy Joe Tucker of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Ruth Ann Stuber and Sandy Dexter; one brother, James Tucker; two aunts she adored, Louise and Pearl Baker; and two stepfathers, Charles Campbell and George Morber.
She enjoyed decorating for every holiday, with Christmas being her favorite. She decorated her large dining room table and surroundings with miniatures and a village. This took two weeks for her and David to set up just so her grandbabies could come to see.
She enjoyed being a member at the Anna Moose Lodge and helping with fund-raisers and meetings. She held her membership and friends close to her heart. She became a member of the College of Regents, the most coveted recognition within the Women of the Moose.
She held many roles in life, she was a very loving wife and mother. Nothing ever came before her family. She never missed a little league ball game or a Sunday skating rink trip. Even in her middle age years, she was still a great skater. She was also a softball coach, short order cook, housekeeper, taxi service and nurse. She loved family dinners and everyone had to be there.
