Elsa Mae Jacobs
Elsa Mae Jacobs, (nee Black) age 105, of McClure, Ill., formerly of Dupo, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
Elsa Mae was born Dec. 19, 1920 to Roland E. and Nettie (Porter) Black in Reynoldsville, Union County, Ill. She married Royal Wayne Jacobs in Cape Girardeau, Mo. on July 23, 1940.
Prior to starting her family, she worked as a beautician in Jonesboro, then moved to Dupo where she played a critical role as rail clerk, making up trains for the Missouri Pacific Railroad during WWII.
Elsa Mae was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and raised her family as members of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Dupo. As a mother, she loved her family deeply and made thousands of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
Often asked, she contributed her longevity to still having all her own teeth and drinking buttermilk. Loved by many, she will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include her children, Elizabeth (Dennis) Williams, Melissa K. (William) Stoneman, and David N. (Jacqueline) Jacobs; grandchildren, Mikayla Jacobs, Neal (Lacy) Misselhorn; one great-grandchild, Landen Misselhorn; and favorite niece, Billie Noel Morris and children Kevin, Morgan, Ashton, and Hayden.
Along with her parents and husband, Royal Wayne Jacobs, she is preceded in death by her son, Roland Wayne Jacobs; a grandchild, Amy Lynn Misselhorn and her beloved sister, Martha E. (Walter) Morris.
After cremation, graveside services will be led by family member Diane Blaney on Tuesday, May 5 at 1 p.m. at the Jonesboro Cemetery.
Arrangements to be personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home in Anna, Ill.
