Earl W. Miller

Earl W. Miller, 82, of Anna, died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2024, at his home.

He was born on Sept. 25, 1941, in De Soto, the son of Clifton Edward and Ruth Aline Walker Miller.

He was a graduate of Carbondale Community High School in 1959 and attended University High.  He retired from Verizon on June 30, 2010, having worked in communications from 1959 to 2010; 36 years of those were for General Telephone/Verizon. He then worked at Walmart and Rural King.

He was the Illinois State Champion in the Coca-Cola Basketball shootout in 1988. He enjoyed tennis. He worshiped at large and was a trustee at the Anna United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Friends of Stinson Library Board. He traveled to all 48 contiguous states and to Mexico and Canada.

Survivors include his sons, Carl Miller and Brian Miller, both of Anna; five grandchildren; a half-sister, Vicky Lenz; many cousins and other loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; and a grandson, Blake Miller.
