Dr. Dennis P. Robinson
Dr. Dennis P. Robinson was born on Sept. 30, 1946, at the Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Chicago, the son of Phil and Betty Robinson.
Dr. Robinson died on Feb. 11, 2024, in Harrisonburg, Va.
Dennis graduated from Anna-Jonesboro Community High School in 1965.
He earned a B.S. from Southern Illinois University, an M.A. from Indiana University and a PhD from George Washington University.
He served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator in Korea from 1966 to 1968.
He started his federal servant career in 1971 working at the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
He published numerous articles in professional journals and lectured in the USA and abroad.
He was a dedicated federal employee who believed that government changed lives for the better.
After retirement, he entered academia, working at the University of Missouri and the University of Arkansas.
On Aug. 30, 1975, he married Katherine Murrie, who survives.
He is also survived by three children, Danielle Murrie-Robinson of Harrisonburg, Stephen Murrie-Robinson (Taylor) of RAF Lakenheath England and Phillip Murrie-Robinson (Jana Martin) of Roanoke, Va.; two loving granddaughters Elizabeth Murrie-Robinson and Kennedy Murrie-Robinson; three step-grandsons, Paul, Nicholas and Zackary Smith; and one sister, Shirley Adams of Palestine, Ill. He is also survived by five brothers-in-law, James Murrie (Martha Brennan), Steve Murrie (Nancy), Mike Murrie, Joe Murrie, Jerry Huffstickler; and a sister-in-law, Mary Anne Burden (Tom).
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sandra Huffstickler; an infant brother and brother-in-law John Murrie.
A Funeral Mass for Dennis will be offered at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Anna at noon on May 3, 2024, with Reverend Father Uriel Salamanca officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Cemetery in New Burnside, Ill.
