Doris Marie (Hankla) Womick
Doris Hankla Womick, 95, of Carbondale, formerly of Anna, passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, April 5, 2025 at Manor Court in Carbondale.
She was born Aug. 28, 1929, the daughter of Claude Everett and Marie (Boyd) Hankla.
She married Robert “Bob" Womick on March 21, 1948 in Piggott, Ark. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2011.
She is survived by daughters, Kathie (Ronnie) Watkins and Nancy (Bill) Hooks, both of Anna; grandchildren, Eric Watkins and Lindsey Hooks Houston; great-grandchildren, Jenna Watkins, Jonah Watkins, Nora Houston and Seth Houston; other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Womick; parents; two brothers, and her grandson, Ryan.
Doris was a member of the United Methodist Church of Anna. She worked at Kroger in Anna for 36 years before retiring. She had a little dog named Jake that she walked every day around Anna.
To this day, people stop us and ask about Mom, saying I remember her at Kroger or I saw your mom walking Jake. We love her and will miss her every day.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 25 at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna with Jimmy Keller officiating. Visitation will take place from 10 a.m. until the service time of 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loaves and Fishes Anna United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna.
