Dixie Lee Ross Anderson

Dixie Lee Ross Anderson, 55, of Dix, died after a 3 1/2-year battle with cancer on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2022, at Nature Trail Nursing Home in Mount Vernon.

She was born on Aug. 1, 1967, in West Frankfort, the daughter of Bill and Elizabeth Smith Ross.

She had accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, which gives the family great comfort knowing she is in heaven. 

She was a graduate of the SIU School of Mortuary Science. She enjoyed spending time with friends and reading. She also enjoyed entertaining her family and friends with funny stories.

She is survived by many, including her brother, Jay (Elaine) Ross; sisters Betsy (Mike) Dietz and Vickie Terry; cousins, including Richard Smith; and several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Scarlett; and a brother-in-law, Butch Terry.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro, with the Rev. Dennis Nance officiating.

Interment followed in Evergreen Cemetery in Makanda.
