Dennis Wesley Baggott
Dennis Wesley Baggott, 67, of Anna, and formerly of Cobden, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, at the Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1955, in Anna, the son of Conrad W. and Norma J. Bevil Baggott.
Mr. Baggott is survived by his sister, Cynthia (Gerry) Boehne of Kevil, Ky.; brothers Conrad Wayne Baggott of Salmon, Idaho, and Darren (Michelle) Baggott of Anna; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. He served as past post commander of the Cobden American Legion and was very active in the Forty and Eight group of the American Legion.
He was a firefighter with the Cobden Fire Department for over 20 years and was very active with the Cobden Lions Club.
He had a lucky streak when it came to raffles and bingo, he was always a winner. He enjoyed singing with the Carbondale Men’s Barbershop Chorus. He worked for the State of Illinois, retiring as a mental health technician.
Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 7, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden, with Pastor Carl Dillow officiating.
Interment will be in the Cobden Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW in Anna and the Illinois National Guard funeral honor team of Marion.
Friends may visit after 10 a.m. and until the service hour at noon Saturday at the Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Cobden. which is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials can be made to the Cobden Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
