Darrell Higgins Jr.

Darrell Higgins Jr., 55, of Belknap, died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at his home.

He was born on June 3, 1967, in Metropolis, the son of Darrell Sr. and Judith Smith Higgins.

He was a graduate of Vienna High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of Beggs-Gurley VFW Post No. 5222. He had previously worked as security at the Tri County Jail in Ullin.

He is survived by his brother, Randy Scott Higgins of Belknap; sister Joy Higgins of Vienna; and an uncle, Carroll Higgins of Belknap.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Darrell Sr. and Judith Smith Higgins.

Graveside memorial services honoring the life of Darrell Higgins Jr. were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 7,  at the Masonic Cemetery in Belknap. The Rev. Gerell Cain officiated.

Full military honors were accorded by Beggs-Gurley VFW Post No. 5222 and the Metropolis American Legion.

Memorials can be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses and can be left in care of Wilson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 206, Karnak, Ill. 62956. Wilson Funeral Home in Karnak was in charge of arrangements.
