Dan Wilson
Dan Wilson, 95, of Wolf Lake, died Thursday May 30, 2024, at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on May 14, 1929, in Wolf Lake, the son of Dewey G. and Mary Caroline Rendleman Wilson.
Mr. Wilson served in the U.S. Army. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member and supporter of the Wolf Lake Community Church. He was always there to lend a hand with anything that needed to be done.
He was former president of the board at Bald Knob Cross and was a member of the Farm Bureau.
It was important to him to document things with photography, especially Wolf Lake and the surrounding areas with historical significance. He was a great photographer and had quite the collection of cameras he had obtained over the years.
He loved to travel and did so extensively abroad and across the United States with Imogene and his family throughout the years.
He is survived by longtime companion Imogene Sutton; daughter Kim (Eugene) Benefield of Jonesboro; son Dan R. “Rod” Wilson of Maffle, Belgium; four grandchildren, Amy (Blake) Aldridge, Shannon Benefield, Andrew and Alexander Wilson; nephews Steve Loberg of Florida, Don (Pamela) West of Cobden and Mark (Sharon) West of Colorado; brother-in-law Marvin West of Cobden; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gene Boren and Ann West; a niece, Cathy Loberg; nephews Steve and Russ Boren; and a great-nephew, Adam Boren.
Funeral services will be at noon Thursday, today, at the Wolf Lake Community Church. Visitation will be after 10 a.m. until the service hour at noon.
Interment will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery. Military funeral honors will be conducted at the cemetery by Carroll P. Foster Post No. 3455 of the VFW and the Illinois Army National Guard funeral honors team of Marion.
Memorials can be made to the Wolf Lake Community Church. Envelopes will be available at the church and at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home.
