Dale R. Whiteside
Dale R. Whiteside, 90, of Moline, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Allure of the Quad Cities, Moline.
Memorial services for Dale were at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island.

Dale Raymond Whiteside was born in Aurora, Ill., on July 4, 1934, to Raymond and Jennie (Nelson) Whiteside.
He graduated from Augustana College in 1956 and attended graduate school at several universities. He participated in the prank of creating a teapot on the dome on Augie’s Old Main.
Dale taught foreign languages from kindergarten through college and taught ethnomusicology at Southern Illinois University. He married Jill Petrie in 1981.
Dale was a talented musician and had a band that provided music for Civil War Reenactments. He also included music in his storytelling programs and for several years ran the Liars Contest at the Illinois State Storytelling Festival. He will be remembered for hosting an annual music festival on his farm in Southern Illinois. Dale was a U.S. Army veteran.
Dale is survived by his wife, Jill; children and (spouses), Dr. Ann Bova, Springfield, Dan (Kathy) Whiteside, Cobden, Ill., Linn (David) Crivelli, Scotts Valley, Calif., Lars Whiteside, Anna, Ill., and Neil (Casey) Whiteside, Waco, Texas.; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
