Charlotte Helton, 68, of Villa Ridge, died at 9:33 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 28, 1952, in Cairo, the daughter of Charley Wallace and Melba Haynes Wallace.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mound City. After 30 years, she retired from the Fill-Up Mart as a manager.
She was preceded in death by her mother and by a sister, Lavanda Aldridge.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Helton of Villa Ridge; son Donald Ray (Kayla) Hollis of Karnak; daughter Amy (Billy) Helton of Villa Ridge; her father, Charley Wallace Sr. of Cairo; a brother, Charley (Marilyn) Wallace Jr. of Mayfield, Ky.; a brother-in-law, Jerry Aldridge of Cairo; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Due to health concerns related to the COVID-19 virus and by the signing of the executive order by Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, private graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Helton Family Cemetery in rural Villa Ridge, with Rev. Buddy Walls officiating. Interment followed.
