Carroll Henson

Carroll Henson, age 79, of Dongola, passed away on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at Deaconess Union County Hospital. 

He was born on Nov. 19, 1945 to Vern and Ruth (McCluskey) Henson in Salem, Ill. 

On Jan. 30, 1971, Carroll married Donna Garrison and they spent over 50 years together until her passing in 2021.

Carroll was a Registered Nurse having worked at Choate Mental Health for over 22years. Prior to his nursing career, he spent 30 years as a carpenter in Elgin, Ill. 

Carroll spent three years serving in the United States Army as an Airborne Ranger during the Vietnam era. 

Carroll was a loving and caring husband and father to his wife and to his children.

Survivors include his son, Doug Henson; daughter, Lynette Henson; granddaughter, Leanna; sister, Teresa Halterman; along with nieces, nephews, and other relatives. 

Along with his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Thomas Hickam; siblings, Marilyn Leach, Melba Mixon, Louise Mobley, Loretta Money, Elise Lowell, and Vern Henson.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, June 9, with Pastor Henry Miller officiating at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola. 

A private inurnment will take place at a later date at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Wetaug, Ill.

The cremation of Carroll Henson will be personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home.
