Carolyn Bracken

Carolyn Bracken, 81, of Dongola, died Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at her home.

She was born on Aug. 16, 1942, in Elco, the daughter of Floyd James and Ellen Catherine Graves Smith.  

She married Junior Bracken. He preceded her in death.

She worked at the Florsheim Shoe Factory for many years. She also worked on the farm, making hay and taking care of the pigs and sheep; she was a great farmer.  She loved being around their horses and being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her sons, Glen (Peggy) Bracken and Rick (Becky) Bracken; daughter Shelia (Mike) Frick; grandchildren Dustin (Lynsi) Bracken, Brittany (John) Bracken, Kembre (Dennis) Bracken, Danielle Robinson, Philip Bracken, Isabelle Bracken, Michaela Bracken, Jason (Sara) Smith and Josh (Jenny) Long; great-grandchildren Kadyn, Jesse, William, Cheyenne and Dusti Lynn Bracken, Wyatt and Colton Jacobs, Emma and Effie Smith, Hope Long, Faith Englebright, Sunny Rodriguez, Joseph and Willow Long; and sisters Eveline (Gary) Garner and Rose Mary Dotson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Sharon Bracken; and sisters Margaret, Thelma and Shirley.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The cremation of Carolyn was personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home.
