Capt. Tyler Michael Adams

Capt. Tyler Michael Adams, 32, of Cairo, died at 7:59 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at his residence.

He was born on Oct. 8, 1990, in Carbondale, the son of Donald Garrett and Amy Sue Davis Adams.

He graduated from Bluegrass Academy in Fort Knox, Ky. He proudly served as captain with Cairo Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Amy Sue Adams; maternal grandfather Donovan Lee Davis Sr.; paternal grandparents Ina and Francis Garrett; and an uncle Michael William Davis.

Survivors include his father, Don Garrett; a sister and brother-in-law, Bethany and Richard Miles; a brother, Jordyn Adams Sr.; aunts Trina Davis-Sartin and Patty Davis (Don Bradshaw); uncle Donnie Davis; grandmother Joyce Adams; nieces and nephews Stuart, Scottie, Jordyn, Janiya and Khloe; extended family of the Cairo Fire Department, John Meyer, Torey Purchase, Travis Skinner, Dale Bandy, Adam Hodges and Justin Ice; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at Mighty Rivers Worship Center in Cairo. Pastor Larry Potts officiated. 

A firefighters walk through was held at 12:45 p.m.

Interment followed in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge.
