Camden Smith
Camden Smith, 18, of Cobden was born Jan. 16, 2007 and left us Jan. 31, 2025.
He is survived by his father, Cale Smith, his grandmother, Maribeth Smith, sisters, Kadence Smith and Kimber Meirndorf and brother Xander Smith; uncle Garrett (Lori) Smith of Charlotte N.C. and Aunt Jessica Kirk of Virginia Beach, “Pappy”, Milan Jurka, and “Nana” Pamela Jerrell and many relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kristi Jerrell; and grandfather Donovan Smith. There is a special place in our hearts for Amelia Long and her family.
Cam’s priorities in life were his family and friends and his education. He loved school and especially Cobden. He was a member of CYCA, Beta Club, AV Club, Outdoor Club, FCA, Art Club, Forensic Science Club, Cheerleading Team, Stage Crew and Math team.
He loved exploring and trying new things like riding a unicycle or skateboard to school, doing back flips off our propane tank, climbing to the top of our pine trees 30 feet high, walking on 3 inches of ice on stilts, roller skating at the Ole skate Barn and dying his hair to match his clothes. He loved to have fun and organized legendary gatherings at Pappy’s Lake.
Cam’s sweet, loving, kind nature brought him many endearing friends. He truly never met a stranger, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
As we search for comfort, we believe that we all come into this life with a mission, and when that is finished, we go home. He finished his far too soon for those of us who loved him. Cam loved the woods and trees, and we ask that you plant a tree in your own yard in his memory.
A celebration of life is tentatively planned at Cobden High School Gymnasium Saturday March 1, from 12 to 2 p.m.
