Bon L. Kohler
Bon L. Kohler, 86, of Anna, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
He was born on May 16, 1937, in Jonesboro, the son of Ual and Flora Schlichting Kohler.
He married Jean K. Coats on June 18, 1960, in Anna. She preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2020.
Mr. Kohler is survived by his children, Greg (Sandy) Kohler, Kelly (Shane) Boyd and Nicole (Barry) Evans; grandchildren Nedom (Caitlin) Bowen, Amber (Dylan) Sturgeon, Alyssa (Jake) Pecord, Mason (Libby) Watkins and Ava Rosenthal; great-grandchildren William, Robbie and Roxie Bowen, Sutton Sturgeon, Kolter Pecord and Crue Watkins; a sister, Geraldine Smith; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; mother and father-in-law Agnes and Herbert Coats; and a brother, Eugene Kohler.
Mr. Kohler was a member of the Jonesboro First Baptist Church. He worked at Bunny Bread in Anna until the bakery closed and he was able to retire.
He worked on the family farm, raising cattle for many years. He still enjoyed going to the farm to look at the cows.
He and Jean were members of the Union County Saddle Club. They enjoyed camping and trail riding together and attended the annual 9-Day Trail Ride for over 20 years.
He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, fishing, college basketball and visiting with his friends at the coffee shop.
Funeral services for Bon Kohler were at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Rendleman & Hileman Funeral Home in Anna, with the Rev. Perry Williams officiating. Interment followed in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
