Bette Jo DeJournett

Bette Jo DeJournett, 95, of Anna, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 5, at integrity Healthcare in Anna.

She was born on July 1, 1929 to Osa Lee and Alma Viola (Sifford) Lawrence in Tamms, Ill. She was married to Luther DeJournett.

Bette worked at and retired from General Motors in Flint, Mich. After retiring, she and her husband, Luther moved to Virginia Beach, Va., where she spent her days happily gardening. She cut her own grass until the age of 91. 

Bette moved to Anna in 2020 and continued gardening until she could no longer do so. She had a wonderful sense of humor and she will be sorely missed. 

Survivors include two sisters, Janice Glenn of Virginia Beach, Va. and Cynthia (Kurt) Pfau of Anna; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Lee, Hester Maxine, Bonnie June, Alecia Marie; one brother, Billy Frank; one niece; and one nephew.

Cremation rites will be accorded. No services will be held.

The cremation of Bette Jo DeJournett will be personally handled by the staff of Crain Funeral Home.

Crain Funeral Home in Anna, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
