Beryl Allen Clayton

Our Daddy, Beryl Allen Clayton, 90, passed away on May 5, 2023, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, surrounded by his loving family. 

Beryl was born on March 14, 1933, in Anna, the son of William Allen and Lanie Viola Smith Clayton.

He married the love of his life, Ruthe Marie Blood, on Feb. 22, 1958. Ruthe preceded him in death on their 61st wedding anniversary on Feb. 22, 2019. 

Beryl proudly served in the U.S. Army. 

He is survived by his daughter, Melanie (Tim) McReynolds; son Willy (Diane) Clayton, grandchildren Brandi (Brian) Hoehner, Travis (TC) McReynolds, Hunter (Samantha) McReynolds and Fallon (R.J.) Millis; great-grandchildren Blakeley Hoehner, Bryson Hoehner, Clayton Millis, Camryn Millis and Jasper McReynolds; sisters Pansy (John) Jackson, Frieda Brasel and Betty Jo Raney; as well as his best friends, Robert and Nancy Smith, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Beryl was preceded in death by his wife, Ruthe; daughter Candi Sue;  his parents;  and a sister, Vurline Brasel.

The family extended heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Illinois Veterans Home of Anna for the love and care Beryl received the last few years.  

Visitation will be Friday, May 12, from 10 a.m. until noon at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 12, at noon at Crain Funeral Home in Anna-Jonesboro.

Interment will follow the funeral services at the Anna City Cemetery. Full military rites will be accorded.

Flowers are welcome and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Illinois Veterans Home Resident Benefit Fund, to the Anna Church of the Nazarene and/or to Mid-America Transplant Services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
