Barbara Marilyn Johnson Frizzell

Barbara Marilyn Johnson Frizzell

Barbara Marilyn Johnson Frizzell was born on July 30, 1930, the daughter of Walter Johnson and Evelyn Karraker Johnson of Dongola.

She married the love of her life, Everett Leon Frizzell, on Aug. 17, 1946, in Pocahontas, Ark.

She was the mother of two children, a daughter, Charlotte Gail Simpson (husband Ron) of Valley Park, Mo., and a son, Stephen Wayne Frizzell (wife Christie) of Anna.

Her pride and joy were her four grandchildren, Rebekah Lynn Chapman (husband John) of Twin Oaks, Mo., Jonathan Lee Simpson (wife Amanda) of Hayden, Ala., Matthew Stephen Frizzell (wife Meghan) of Lexington, and Whitney Erin Weisenberger (husband Brandon) of Carterville; and eight great-grandchildren, Riley Everett Simpson, Clayton Isaiah Simpson, Zane Gabriel Chapman, Amelia Marie Simpson, Parker John Chapman, Oran Everett Weisenberger, Jack Everett Frizzell and baby girl Frizzell, who is expected to make her entrance in August of 2019.

Her greatest enjoyment was cooking for her family and spending time loving on them.  Although she suffered from severe arthritis for many years, she would never complain.  She always had a smile and was willing to cook a meal for someone or help in other ways if needed.

She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Dongola until her health became such that it was too hard for her to attend. Although she was physically unable to get out much, she liked staying updated on the activities of the church through mailings and phone calls. Until very recently, she made certain that flowers from the church were ordered for the families of those whose loved ones had gone to be with the Lord.

She enjoyed getting to know new people she came in contact with. Many of them she would find that she was either related to them in some way or knew some of their family members throughout the years.

On Oct. 29, 2011, she became a part of the family at River to River (The Voyage) Assisted Living Center in Anna. Since being there, the staff and many of the residents became her extended family. They helped and supported her in ways that will never be forgotten. She loved each and every one of them.

She left this world on April 18, 2019, at 12:58 p.m.  She is now free of pain and limitations and is in the presence of her Maker and the true Lamb of Easter.  She is also now with her beloved of 63 1/2 years.  She and Everett are together again and waiting for the day when they once again can be with all the family members and friends they loved so very much.

Funeral services for Barbara Frizzell were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, at the First Baptist Church in Dongola, with the Rev. Ron Simpson and the Rev. Paul Sadler officiating.  Interment was in Christian Chapel Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or to the River to River resident fund.
